Was part of the collection of the historian Alfredo Chavero, until 1880, when Dr. Rafael Lucio bought. Years later, Francisco del Paso y Troncoso acquired it from his heirs to finally deposited in the Museo Nacional de Arqueologia, Historia y Etnografia, now Museo Nacional de Antropologia.
